HOLBY City has been dropped from tonight's TV schedule so BBC1 can show a live TV debate between the Conservative leadership hopefuls.

The drama usually plays out every Tuesday evening, but has now been moved to Thursday at 8pm so the show 'Our Next Prime Minister' can be broadcast live.

The change in schedule has infuriated viewers of the hugely popular show.

As Holby City announced the news on their Twitter, fans were quick to voice their disappointment.

One fan wrote: "Why not move some boring programme. Why Holby?".

Another replied: "Really??? And I thought today couldn't get any worse", whilst another said: "Why don't they start a new boring channel for debates?".

One viewer added: Why is it always Holby that gets moved? #nothappy".

This week's episode will see an emotional Sacha Levy make a huge romantic gesture as he proposes to new love Patricia, following the news she faces deportation.

But, fans will have to wait until Thursday to see if he gets the response he wants.
