'No Time to Die': LeBron James and James Bond Fans React to Daniel Craig's 5th 007 Trailer

The full trailer for Daniel Craig’s fifth film as James Bond, No Time to Die, went online on Wednesday, December 4. LeBron James was one of the first to tweet his reaction. Other Bond fans chimed in, some noticing Easter Eggs from classic 007 films and others commenting on the new cast surrounding Craig.

The No Time to Die trailer answered a lot of questions. James Bond (Daniel Craig) is still retired after the end of Spectre. Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright) asks Bond to go on a mission for him. Madeleine Swann (Lea Seydoux) is still with Bond and the trailer shows her in enough scenes to make it look like they don’t kill her off for Bond to avenge again. No Time to Die is out April 8, 2020. See the reactions to the trailer below.

We know what LeBron James will be doing when ‘No Time to Die’ opens

NBA superstar LeBron James may have won the Twitter reactions for No Time to Die.

Other fans shared his general excitement for the trailer.

@ASAP_Rossy asked rhetorically, “How good does the new James Bond look?

@nickcameron1988 summarized it succinctly, “Yaaasss.”

@ErickMcNamee added, “Holy moley I can’t wait.”

James Bond fans pointed out the ‘Dr. No’ connections

Dr. No was the very first James Bond movie starring Sean Connery. Dr. No was the first evil villain whose evil lair James Bond escaped. Fans are thinking Rami Malek’s character could be a 2020 reinvention of Dr. No.

@ConnerWS noticed similarities between Rami Malek and original Bond villain Dr. No’s wardrobe. “I still think this is where #NoTimetoDie is headed,” he wrote with a side by side picture.

@Superherologist asked, “Could the “No” in the title ‘No Time to Die’ be a callback to Dr. No?”

Of course, many just went with Phantom of the Opera:

James Bond fans praise the diversity in ‘No Time to Die’

Daniel Craig returns with M (Ralph Fiennes), Q (Ben Whishaw) and Moneypenny (Naomie Harris). Lashana Lynch and Ana de Armas round out the cast.

@Zakiyyah6 was excited to see Lashana Lynch and Naomie Harris share a scene together. “Two black women, on screen together,” she wrote.

@BjornisMagnus said, “I am all for #Bond having LGBT representation (Lachana Lynch [sic] & Ana de Armas should be a couple here) and for it targeting a female audience.”

@RohanBeg said, “I’m more excited about the characters around James Bond than I am about the man himself.”

These ‘No Time to Die’ reactions can live and let die

Some of the fans are waiting until they see No Time to Die to register a final verdict. The trailer looks promising, but raises some concerns too.

@Hancock2001 was concerned about portraying a disfigured character as a villain. “Why does Rami Malek have a facial disfigurement?” she asked. “It just perpetuated lazy and harmful stereotypes. Malek is an excellent actor and can carry off menace without lazy tricks.”

@PSekul worried No Time to die won’t escape the trap of the previous Daniel Craig films. He wrote, “I feel like all the latest James Bond movies are making the same mistake by focusing the story on Bond and his character. I’ve always felt like he as [sic] character worked best when he was secondary to the crazy fun adventures he got into.

@BuffyHannigan pointed out, “Er from #NoTimeToDietrailer don’t you think #NoTimetoDie looks ever so slightly EXACTLY the same as Skyfall?”
