New pics from The Witcher season 2 tease brutal executions and sacrifices as mages gather after explosive battle

NEW pictures leaked from The Witcher season two set teased brutal executions and sacrifices as mages gather again after their explosive battle.

The Netflix hit has conducted night shoots at Fountains Abbey in North Yorkshire in the aftermath of season one's explosive finale.

The photos show Yennefer actress Anya Chalotra as well as Eamon Farren's Cahir.

According to fan site Redanian Intelligence – who acquired the pics – the scenes filmed at the abbey showed actors dressed in robes.

This suggests a gathering of mages in the aftermath of the Battle of Sodden Hill in the The Witcher's season's finale.

In the battle, Yennefer managed to save the other mages with a final fire spell, holding off the invading Nilfgaardian forces until reinforcements arrived from the north.

Some new pictures from the set at Fountains Abbey. We can see, there is a whole mage conclave going on. Among the big players like Yennefer, Tissaia, Stregobor or Vilgefortz, there is also Artorius Vigo (on pic 2) and a bunch of mage extras. We now know that elves will be meeting, as well as kings and mages. It will be interesting to see if this is all one big gathering or if it's various scenes. 🤔 Unfortunately, location shooting is now finished and the crew is heading back to the studios. Another late night post with some new great photos from Fountains Abbey that were posted by Peter Lau on Facebook (via Valibomba of r/netflixwitcher). We can see: 1) from left to right: Cahir (with a beard, definitely from a later scene), Yennefer (in the back), unknown sorceress (any idea?), Sabrina 2) Vilgefortz, Stregobor3) Tissaia (behind the umbrella), Stregobor, VilgefortzThere's definitely a big mage gathering happening here at Fountains Abbey. Did they capture Cahir? 🤔 #thewitcher #witcher #netflix #hexer #thewitchernetflix #thewitcher3 #gwent #Ведьмак #wiedzmin #gaming #geralt #geraltofrivia #witcher3wildhunt #gameofthrones #cirilla #bloodandwine #wildhunt #anyachalotra #yenneferofvengerberg #sapkowski #henrycavill #bloodorigin #cdprojekt #netflixwitcher #witcherbloodorigin #witcherseason2

Photos also show Cahir looking rugged with a beard and shirtless, suggesting he's been captured by the Northern Kingdoms.

No other Niflgaardians were on set, according to the site, also hinting that he is the only one left.

The site also says Eamon Farren was spotted in the Water Gardens near Fountains Abbey filming a different scene.

This could mean he's managed to get out of his execution – or it could be a flashback.

In the books, mage Vilgefortz of Roggeveen helps sign a peace treaty between Nilfgaard and the Northern Kingdoms.

Actor Mahesh Jadu – last seen losing his fight with Cahir – was seen filming in the Abbey, so the show may follow the book's direction.

Geralt of Rivia star Henry Cavill recently said goodbye to Yorkshire ahead of England's lockdown in order to finish filming in the studio.

"England returns to lockdown on Thursday so it is time for me to depart Yorkshire and the extraordinary North, and head back down South to continue shooting in the studio," he told his 14million Instagram followers.

"Thank you for hosting all of us on season 2 of The Witcher," he added.

"Hopefully I shall return to your hills, dales and fells soon."

He signed off the post: "Stay strong and stay safe, my friends."
