New Peppa Pig actress Amelie Bea Smith, nine, to make ‘£1million in a year’ – twice as much as Harley Bird – The Sun
THE new Peppa Pig actress – nine-year-old Amelie Bea Smith – is set to make £1million in a year after taking over from Harley Bird, it has been claimed.
The youngster is replacing 18-year-old actress Harley who reportedly made £1,000-an-hour as the voice of the cartoon porker – and could earn TWICE as much.
Dermot McNamara – founder of Candid Publicity – has told Metro.co.uk how rich Amelie is about to become.
He said: "The new Peppa Pig, Amelie Bea Smith, would now probably be making as much as twice than Harley – as Peppa Pig is now a global brand, which it wasn’t when Harley joined.
"It would have been very difficult task for the Peppa Pig producers to find a new voice similar to the original. So they would have pulled out all the stops to get Amelie to sign on the dotted line!
"With how much of a juggernaut Peppa Pig is, I can definitely see Amelie making at least a million within the next year or so. The brand shows no signs of slowing down and provided she’s got a good deal, she’ll be making millions for years to come!"
Harley was the third actress to voice Peppa, after Lily Snowden-Fine, who starred in its first series in 2004, and Cecily Bloom, who joined for the second run in 2006.
Peppa Pig has been a worldwide smash for its makers Entertainment One, which was brought by Hasbro for £2.8 billion on New Year's Eve.
Announcing she was standing down, Harley said: "Becoming the voice of Peppa at the age of five was the start of an incredible journey, and I'll never forget my time on the show.
"The people that work on Peppa Pig have become like a family to me and they've given me some unforgettable memories.
"I wish Amelie the best of luck in the role and am looking forward to starting the next chapter in my life."
Before she quit, a source told the Star: "Harley is the most successful teenage voiceover artist in Britain right now. She is hot property and easily earns £1,000 an hour."
Other stars to lend their voices to the hit include comedy star Morwenna Banks, who plays Mummy Pig, Madame Gazelle and Dr Hamster.
Flash Gordon actor Brian Blessed also gave his booming voice to Grampy Rabbit.
