New Netflix series from Gwyneth Paltrow features group orgasms and exorcisms

Netflix has revealed its first look at the new Gwyneth Paltrow series The Goop Lab.

The new series drops on the streaming service on January 24 for six episodes of bizarre and enlightening wellness techniques, headed by the 47-year-old Oscar-winning actress herself.

The hilarious trailer for the new Netflix series shows Gwyneth asks a specialist for what appears to be a group orgasm workshop: "What the f–k are you doing to people? Naked in a room with a bunch of women? I don’t know if I have the guts."

The Goop Lab, named after the actress' health website Goop, is hosted by Paltrow and Goop CCO Elise Loehnen.

Elise reveals in the trailer clip: "What we try to do at Goop is explore ideas that may seem ‘out there’ or too scary."

The pair explore other health topics such as female pleasure, the power of energy healing, and also the effects of psychedelic drugs.

Gwyneth has already developed a reputation for trying various new health and wellness trends alongside her highly successful acting career – including her role as Pepper Potts in the most successful film of all-time, last year's Avengers: Endgame.

However, some of her practices have been criticised by medical health professionals and Goop even had to pay £112,000 in penalties to settle a lawsuit around vaginal eggs.

As if the eyebrow-raising trailer wasn't enough, the poster for the new show features the Iron Man actress standing in a rather abstract vagina.

Naturally, fans were quick to comment on the provocative image on social media as the poster promised to "Reach new depths".

One fan wrote on Twitter in reference to the actress' role in the film Se7en: "This poster gives a whole new meaning to "What's in the box???""

Another joked: "Help, I’m stuck in a vagina that has been treated to a variety of gross pseudoscientific experiments!"

A different fan wrote: "I’m trying to figure out the graphical subtext here, but it’s escaping me."

While another joked in reference to a treatment Gwyneth commented on having previously.

"A little steam will clean her right out of there," they tweeted.

The new series comes after Gwyneth made a visit to the red carpet of the 2020 Golden Globes in an outfit that left little to the imagination.

We are sure The Goop Lab will create even more conversation!

The Goop Lab is released on Netflix on January 24, 2020.
