Netflix’s You season 2 trailer sees Joe trapped in ‘own personal hell’ while on the run from Candace – The Sun

Netflix has dropped the new trailer for season two of You and it has left us suitably creeped out.

Gossip Girl's Penn Badgely will reprise his role as the creepy bookstore manager Joe Goldberg, who after the horrifying season one finale, has moved to Los Angeles where he meets and falls in love with an aspiring chef named Love (Victoria Pedretti).

But is Love about to meet a fate worse than Guinevere Beck?

The second season promises even more drama and edge-of-your-seat terror as Joe's past begins to finally catch up with him.

His former girlfriend Candace (Ambyr Childers) has found him – as we saw in the final episode of season one – and plans to finally give him a dose of his own medicine.

You is based on the novel by Caroline Kepnes so it's possible that the second series will follow the sequel Hidden Bodies.

Showrunner Sera Gamble previously admitted that Love is someone who has "really absorbed the best of the city and she's really artistic with the way that she lives her life" but that she is "a person he could only have met after what happened between him and Beck".

"And by the way, Joe is not out there looking for love," added Gamble.

"He’s truly heartbroken by what has happened.

"So what Love offers is a different kind of friendship and a different kind of relationship."

Gamble told Vanity Fair: "It so happened [with Season 1] that a lot of stuff remained intact, but the guiding principle has always been to kind of bring to life the spirit of the story and not to obsess too much over plot details."

She added: "Caroline has always been on board with that, and I think that’s going to continue to be the path in season two."
