Netflix's You could get THIRD series following Joe's killing spree says show producer

The thriller, based on Caroline Kepnes book of the same name, proved to be huge success with viewers who swooned over Penn Badgley, who played serial killer Joe Goldberg in the production.

The first series had watchers on tenterhooks as bookshop owner Joe stalked love interest Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail), although the obsessive romance came to a dramatic end.

The end of the first season had fans speculating over a second series, which Sera confirmed will be based on Caroline's second novel Hidden Bodies.

But she hopes there will be a third season to follow, although it has yet to be confirmed.

The creative mastermind told Cosmopolitan: "Absolutely it could come back for season three."

She continued: "First of all, it's up to the powers that be. We hope that a lot of people will watch the show and that it gets to continue.

"I will say that we have an idea for season three that is SO exciting that people talk about it in the [writer's] room everyday.

"So my fingers are crossed… I'll just say, I hope we get the chance to keep making the show."

Sera has hinted series two will see Joe's ex-girlfriend Candace, who appeared in Joe's hallucinations, make a comeback.

Speaking about what is in store for the upcoming episodes, Sera said: "I can tell you we will see more of Candace and that she shakes Joe to the core with what she brings to the story."

"And so it propels that character [Joe] a lot in what he decides to do next."

Fans will not have to wait too long for the second season to hit the small screen, which is tipped to air later this year, because filming is scheduled to start in the next few weeks.

She continued: "A month away from filming [then] we're full steam ahead."

The success of the show has concerned Penn who has been swamped with requests from fans to "kidnap" them on social media.

However, Penn has used the unusual requests as motivation to make his character unlikable in the future.
