Netflix in December 2019: ‘Marriage Story,’ Kevin Hart, ‘The Witcher’ and more ‘You’

If spending time with family during the holidays means piling onto the couch and watching something on TV, Netflix has plenty of options.

In December, the streaming service offers new titles that range from the Christmas variety (“A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby,” “White Christmas”) to critically acclaimed films (“Marriage Story,” “The Two Popes”), documentaries (“The Confession Killer,” “Kevin Hart: Don’t F**k This Up”), dark TV shows (“You” Season 2) and fantasy (“The Witcher”).

Let’s Dance (Netflix Film) A hip-hop dancer falls for an aspiring ballerina in this French film, à la “Step Up.”

Los Briceño (Netflix Original) In this Colombian series, a young woman leaves her family of truck drivers to make it on her own. 

Magic for Humans: Season 2 (Netflix Original) Magician Justin Willman continues to baffle strangers with props, sleight of hand and illusions.

A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby (Netflix Film) In the third “Christmas Prince” film, there’s a baby on the way! But there’s also an issue with a missing peace treaty.

Apache: La vida de Carlos Tevez (Netflix Original) A drama series inspired by the life of Carlos Tevez a boy who was burned in Argentina’s Fuerte Apache but went on to become a soccer star.

Greenleaf: Season 4

Home for Christmas (Netflix Original) After lying about having a boyfriend, Johanne tries to find one ahead of the holidays in this Scandinavian series. 

V Wars (Netflix Original) Ian Somerhalder (“The Vampire Diaries”) is part of another vampiric drama. This time, he appears to be a human doctor in a series inspired by the comics by Jonathan Maberry and Alan Robinson.

Astronomy Club: The Sketch Show (Netflix Original) Producer Kenya Barris (“Black-ish”) presents this comedy series with Upright Citizens Brigade’s first all-black troupe. 

The Chosen One: Season 2 (Netflix Original) The Brazilian series about Zika, doctors and a cult continues. 

The Confession Killer (Netflix Documentary) Henry Lee Lucas was known for killing more than 100 women. But will DNA results prove it was all a hoax?

Fuller House: Season 5 (Netflix Original) Steph and Jimmy’s new baby comes home in the final season of sequel series “Fuller House.” 

Glow Up (Netflix Original) Aspiring makeup artists compete in this beauty reality series. 

Marriage Story (Netflix Film) Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver star in writer/director Noah Baumbach’s brilliantly paced and thoughtful film about a marriage coming apart.

Spirit Riding Free: The Spirit of Christmas (Netflix Family) Lucky and wild horse Spirit need to figure out how to avoid a falling boulder and a snowstorm to get home in time for Christmas.

Teasing Master Takagi-san: Season 2 (Netflix Anime) In the Japanese anime, classmates Nishikata and Takagi still tease each other.

Three Days of Christmas (Netflix Original) Spanish series about sisters dealing with their own drama and secrets in different time periods, all on Christmas.

Triad Princess (Netflix Original) The daughter of a mob-affiliated father, Angie becomes a celebrity bodyguard and finds love.

Virgin River (Netflix Original) A nurse practitioner moves from Los Angeles to a remote California town in this romantic drama series inspired by Robyn Carr’s books.
