Money Heist spin-off: Has a Berlin spin-off been confirmed? Creator reveals plan
Money Heist season four may have only just been released on Netflix but fans are already keen to know whether there could be more planned in the La Casa de Papel world. The creators of the show have been openly speaking about a spin-off series – here’s everything you need to know about what this could be.
Will there be a Berlin spin-off series?
Fans of Money Heist will know how season four of the hit series ended on a major cliffhanger, leaving viewers desperate for a season five.
However, while this has not been confirmed yet by Netflix, there have been a number of rumours about the potential future of the show.
This includes talk about a number of spin-offs focused around the major characters in the show.
These were revealed by Oprah Magazine who had asked creator Alex Pina about the possibility back in autumn last year.

He said: “We do have many possibilities for some spin-offs, yes, and I think that’s thanks to the strong and powerful identities of the characters.
“We’ve always looked for characters to have a very complex, layered design.
“So I think almost every character of Money Heist has a duality that we would like to see in a spin-off. We could watch any of them in other contexts.”
Pina has already inked an overall deal with Netflix, which will see him producing content for the streamer.
In the same interview, he went on to speak about some ideas he has for different spin-offs of the show.
He continued: “I think Arturito (played by Enrique Arce) could have a black comedy.
“Berlin’s (Pedro Alonso) case for his own show is very clear; he’s a misogynist, a psychopath, egocentric, a narcissist, a delinquent, a rapist… but still there are lots of people who adore him, because he values friendship, loyalty or fraternity.
“From Nairobi (Alba Flores) to El Profesor (Álvaro Morte)…Denver (Jaime Lorente) is yet another character with his own charm. I would love to write all of them as spinoffs!”
However, there is one major character who, as Pina says, viewers would love to see back for a spin-off series – Berlin.
The heist mastermind and member of the gang has been a fan-favourite ever since he first stepped onto screens.

Despite being killed in the second part of the Spanish series, the creators even brought him back for a number of flashback scenes in parts two and three.
As well as this, they have openly spoken about how if they had known the longevity of their show, they would not have killed him off.
Writer Javier Gomez Santander admitted this recently to Spanish publication El Mundo when discussing the future of the show.
He said: “With La Casa De Papel, we go game by game. Chapter by chapter, sequence by sequence, line by line.
“We do not ever consider how long the show can last. If we got to know the scope of the phenomenon, we wouldn’t have thought to kill Berlin.”
While nothing has been confirmed about a potential Berlin spin-off yet, some fans have begun to speculate about what this could cover.
User PeakyF*Blinders wrote on Reddit: “I would definitely love to see a prequel of his previous heists.”

“I would love it. I love Berlin. Even though he was problematic at times, especially in the beginning (I started off hating him) there’s something so magnetic about him and his personality for me,” added HopefulButterfly.

There certainly seems to be lots of potential for a spin-off based on the beloved character.
However, it seems at the moment we will have to keep their fingers crossed for an official announcement.
