Alicia Sierra (played by Najwa Nimri) was introduced in Part Three of Money Heist as the new Police Inspector in charge of taking down The Professor (Álvaro Morte) and his team of criminal specialists. However, popular theories suggest the next season could reveal Alicia isn’t all she appears to be when the thrilling crime caper returns to Netflix.

The pregnant and ruthless inspector of the Spanish National Police Corps joined Money Heist’s growing roster of characters in Part Three.

Throughout the latest two parts of the popular series, Alicia led the taskforce of officers assigned to put a stop to The Professor’s next hit on the Bank of Spain.

However, as Part Four progressed, Alicia’s tactics turned desperate and cruel as she brought in one of the team’s youngest members, Rio (Miguel Herrán), and tortured him for answers.

She was eventually fired for her brutal police tactics, but took things into her own hands in the finale and concluded the latest season by holding the Professor at gunpoint.

While many Netflix subscribers were disappointed by the latest season’s decision to kill off fan favourite Nairobi (Alba Flores), Part Five is still expected to draw in plenty of fans eager to see how the latest twist plays out.

In the meantime, Money Heist viewers have proposed The Professor’s new rival may have her fair share of secrets.

Some viewers are already suspicious of Alicia, thanks to her resemblance to a character from Part Three, Tatiana (Diana Gómez).

Tatiana was introduced in a flashback sequence as the girlfriend to dead team member Berlin (Pedro Alonso), and a significant portion of the audience is convinced Alicia and Tatiana could either be related or even the same person.

During the wait for Part Five, another fan has taken to Reddit to propose another theory regarding Alicia and her unclear motives throughout the series.

Redditor MohammedZabi090 posted: “Let’s just jump to the last episode’s final scene where Alicia is confronting The Professor. So all we are hearing is that Alicia is the sister of Tatiana and some are saying that Alicia is Tatiana herself.

“Just think about this….That Alicia has been with The Professor and Berlin from the start.”

The Professor lost his brother at the end of Money Heist Part Two after Berlin was shot and killed by the Spanish police, though he has since returned in flashback scenes.

This theory goes a step further than fans have already seen and suggests Alicia could be revealed as the third cog in the machine behind The Professor’s master plan.

The fan’s elaborate theory explained how Rio’s torture, which has already had major doubt cast by Money Heist viewers, may have been enacted deliberately by Alicia and The Professor as leverage over the rest of the team.

They continued: “The Professor knew that Rio is the weakest link and when he called Tokyo the Europol would track their location and capture Rio.

“In order for him to not die during the interrogation he wanted to ensure his safety by leaving him at the hands of Alicia where she would just torture him and not kill him.”

“Everyone is then forced to return to save Rio but in order to do that they must go for another heist.”

Other fans disagreed with the potential twist, with one fan responding: “Not possible. The professor would have never allowed Rio to go through what Alicia did.”

However, similar theories about Alicia’s dark secrets still persist in the Money Heist community so fans won’t be surprised if the former police inspector is at the centre of Part Five’s biggest reveals.

Money Heist Parts 1-4 are available to stream on Netflix.
