Money Heist fans have been eagerly awaiting any news about the upcoming season from the cast and crew of the show. Now Professor star Alvaro Morte has seemingly confirmed filming has begun on the new series of La Casa de Papel.
Has filming on Money Heist season 5 started?
The fourth season of Money Heist ended on a dramatic cliffhanger, which left the Professor’s fate in the balance.
Viewers will remember how after he had helped smuggle Lisbon (played by Itziar Ituño) back into the Bank of Spain, he was surprised by an unwanted guest.
Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri) appeared at his hideout before holding a gun to his head and saying “checkmate.”
The screen then cut to black, which left viewers devastated about what might happen next to the Professor.

Now the star behind the role has confirmed he will be back, with a hint filming has already begun.
Morte posted on Instagram on July 21 with a picture of him at the film studios where La Casa de Papel is filmed.
Viewers saw him with a mask on as well as his trademark glasses in the reflection of a screen reading ‘La Casa de Papel.’
He wrote in the post: “I’m back. The Professor is back @netflixes @netflix @vancouvermedia_”
Fans were understandably excited by the post, which seemed to confirm filming had started on the show once again.
Taking to Reddit, viewers began discussing what this means for the upcoming season five of the show.
Fan nabnig wrote: “The end of season four was shocking, good thing he’s back.”
While another named lmao12344682 added: “I knew he shouldn’t die. He’s the nucleus of the entire gang.

“No one can replace him, not even Lisbon or Palermo (Rodrigo de la Serna).”
However, not everyone was so sure about his survival given the twists and turns the show has pulled out in the past.
User e_wi wrote: “Returning for the next season and not dying has been proven to be two different things in the La Casa de Papel universe.”
Looking at social media, it seems it also wasn’t just the fans who were excited about the show returning.
Netflix Spain also posted below Morte’s image: “Tell us that the Professor has a plan to get us out of this 2020.”
The start of the new season has been teased for a few weeks now with many of the cast posting on Instagram about their imminent return.

As well as this, the series creator Alex Pina also told fans on social media how he was busy writing the new series.
However, there has been no news yet on a potential release date on Netflix.
There is also no clear information about whether they are just filming season five or are planning to film season six back-to-back as they have done in previous seasons.
Fans will just have to keep waiting for more teases and clues to emerge from the La Casa de Papel set in the next few months.
