Mike Tindall warns he’s an ‘open book’ as Royal in law joins I’m A Celebrity

Mike Tindall has promised he'll be an “open book” when he makes his I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! debut later this week.

The former rugby player 44, will head into the famous camp this weekend and fans who are hoping he'll spill some royal secrets by the campfire could be in for a treat.

Mike, who is married to Princess Anne’s daughter Zara Tindall, will be the first Royal to enter the jungle.

Speaking ahead of his stint, the sports star has hinted at what viewers can expect from him and said he thinks the show will be a far tougher experience than any rugby international games.

When asked if there are any misconceptions he's hoping to dispel on the show, Mike replied: "Nothing. I am an open book."

Explaining why he thinks the series will be tougher than rugby, he continued: “With a rugby game you know what you are going to get and when it gets hard, you know what it looks like.

"This is something you can’t predict; you don’t know where it will take you and so you can’t really plan for it.

“Your ability to roll with the punches is something you have got to have. Hopefully I have that and I won’t overthink things. Hopefully my personality suits this.”

Mike was convinced to go on I’m a Celebrity after his friend and former contestant James Haskell praised the show.

Mike continued: “It is sinking in now that I am taking part. I am ready to rumble!

“I have been asked on numerous occasions to take part. The timing was right this year and Hask (James) did the show and he had been talking about it.”

He's looking forward to building camaraderie in camp and “great friendships” that he hopes will last way beyond the series’ end.

Ahead of his appearance on the show, Mike added that he hasn’t done any preparation for camp life, but he’s sure he’ll get to grips with sleeping in a hammock quickly.

Addressing his chances of becoming King of the Jungle, he said: “I reckon it’s a difficult one to win I’m A Celebrity.

“I am used to doing something where you know if you do the best you can, you can win. This isn’t that set up. All I would hope to do is be useful to the group. Winning is out of your control.

“But I am not going in to win it. All I can do is what I think is the best and someone else will judge me on whether they think it is. I am looking forward to it.”

I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! starts on Sunday 6 November on ITV at 9pm.
