Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright build eco-friendly sewage plant to treat the waste water at their £1.3m dream home – The Sun

MARK Wright and Michelle Keegan are going green – by building an eco-friendly sewage plant at their lavish £1.3million home.

The couple have submitted new plans to embrace a more sustainable lifestyle at their sprawling Essex pad, applying for their garage to be demolished to make way for a self-contained waste processing unit.

Known as a "package treatment plant", it breaks down foul water and bacteria itself so it can be released into a drain unlike a normal septic tank.

The council now want more information on their "proposed sustainable draining system", a report has revealed.

Planning officers have also said former Towie star Mark and Our Girl actress Michelle, both 33, don't need to stop there with the environment-boosting upgrade.

They said the pair should give "strong consideration" to "techniques such as green roofs, rainwater harvesting and permeable paving".

The new plans have not been approved yet, but there have been no objections from the parish council.

Michelle's team have been contacted for comment by The Sun Online.

The couple – who recently became TV's richest couple – bought the huge farmhouse last October and have been given the nod to demolish the existing property and turn it into their own rural paradise.

Earlier this month, The Sun revealed the couple's plans to build an outdoor pool, bar and a huge makeup room.

They also submitted plans to create a stunning landscaped garden with new trees planted behind the pool.

Former Corrie star Michelle wants to create a giant make-up room which joins up with an even bigger dressing room on the first floor.

Downstairs the couple can enjoy boozy nights with their celeb pals in a large bar that opens out into the back garden.

At the rear of the house is the couple's open plan living space with a huge kitchen island, dining space and a living room area.

Each of the property's five bedrooms has its own en-suite, while three of them have dressing rooms.

The master bedroom even has its own glass balcony so the couple can enjoy the countryside views.

Exclusive images showed that work is already underway on the property with builders boarding up windows.

On the opposite wing of the house there will be a gym for the fitness focused pair, as well as a TV room and a playroom for when they decide to become parents.

It hasn't all been smooth sailing for Mark and Michelle, as their renovation hit a snag over fears the property may have been contaminated with asbestos.

An independent report said the house needs to be further investigated for "unexpected contamination" as there’s a fear of asbestos on the property, which poses a "potentially high risk".

It comes after The Sun revealed the pair had ditched their plans for an additional outbuilding on the site.

Despite no objections from neighbours, the couple’s application for the “demolition of an existing stable building” to build a “one-bedroom annexe” was withdrawn.
