Meghan McCain Expertly Shuts Down Conservative Pundit Trashing 'Mental Midgets' on 'The View'
Conservative commentator Denise McAllister went after the show in response to McCain’s concerns over the Mueller report leading to a Trump reelection.
Meghan McCain shut down a nasty comment from a conservative commentator about her and her co-hosts on "The View," and she never once stooped to nastiness herself.
The brilliant exchange came in response to McCain’s frustration on Monday’s show after the summary of the Mueller report showed no evidence of collusion between President Trump and Russia to influence the results of the 2016 election. Her concern now is that all the media hype over collusion may have just handed Trump a second term.
In response to an article breaking down the panel discussion on Monday’s show, conservative commentator and author Denise McAllister wrote, "Can someone explain to me the purpose of ‘The View’? It seems to me to be a roundtable of delusional mental midgets ricocheting ignorance and lack of emotional regulation."
Rather than even engage McAllister on the topic, considering it was just insulting her and the rest of the ladies of "The View," McCain managed to shut her down with just six words.
That’s it. That’s all that needs to be said. Disagree all you want with what someone has to say or their ideology, but why are we stooping to such personally insulting language? A few hours prior to going after "The View," McAllister was attacking Stormy Daniels, writing, "It ain’t slut shaming when she’s actually a slut," and much worse.
McCain did go in pretty hard on Trump during the panel discussion. "I actually came in here today and I was like maybe the person sitting in this specific chair should be a Trumper," McCain admitted to the other women. "Because I don’t like him and I think he has the mental and emotional capacity of King Joffrey in ‘Game of Thrones,’ but that doesn’t make him a Russian spy."
The co-host further admitted that she was having a bit of an "existential crisis" over the whole thing. "I’m a hardcore conservative. I’m not a Trump populist," McCain said. "And this is where divisions lie as we’ve been talking about on this show."
Before he got elected, there were plenty of Republicans who were proudly conservative and appalled at the idea of Trump as president. Since he secured the nomination and the White House, though, more and more have gotten in line with their de facto leader, creating a divide within conservatism.
And apparently that divide is just as contentious as the one between the right and the left, as McAllister’s venomous attack on a fellow "hardcover conservative" makes patently clear.
Twitter absolutely lit up after McCain’s classy burn. Check out some of the funnier reactions below:
