Mariah Carey is a secret Gogglebox fan after commenting on clip of the hit show

Pop star Mariah Carey has hinted that she's a surprise fan of hit Channel 4 show Gogglebox after she revealed she was over the moon to have been featured on the UK series.

The 50 year old singer's Christmas special show, which is available on subscription service Apple TV, aired during a segment on a recent episode of Gogglebox.

In the clip, stars Abbie and Georgia were seen watching Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas Special, before showering Mariah in praise.

Abbie said "2020 has been saved by Mariah Carey", while Georgia added: "and that's all it took."

And after Gogglebox Twitter account shared the snippet online, it caught Mariah's attention as she retweeted their message, which said: "2020 is saved @MariahCarey #MariahsMagicalChristmas @AppleTV #Gogglebox".

She then added her own message of thanks for being included in the show, writing: "love this" followed by several laughing crying emojis.

Clearly surprised that the mega star had seen their show, Abbie and Georgia couldn't believe their luck.

They responded to her directly, writing: "Aw wow! We absolutely loved the show![heart emoji] We hope you have an amazing Christmas @MariahCarey ".

Fans of Gogglebox went wild for Mariah's tweet, as they also said they were happy her festive special had been featured.

One of her followers said: "Mariah acknowledging gogglebox I WON". As another added: "Can't go wrong with Gogglebox! They be keeping it real! Sing-along and all…"

Meanwhile another fan joked: "how many times did you have to watch it to understand the accent?"

This comes after Mariah said she wanted her Apple TV show to bring joy to people's lives and living rooms at home.

Speaking on the day it debuted in early December, Mariah wrote on her Twitter account: "Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas is out now on Apple TV."

"I'm so excited to share this truly magical musical special with you and hope it brings you joy, laughter and some much needed holiday cheer" she continued.

The show also includes a massive star line-up of Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson and Snoop Dogg.
