'Lucifer' Star Aimee Garcia Reveals Why Season 5B Will Be a 'Real Treat' for Fans

With the first half of Season 5 on Netflix, Lucifer fans are anxiously waiting to see what happens next. Well, according to series’ star Aimee Garcia — who plays the quirky forensic expert Ella Lopez — viewers won’t be disappointed. The actor recently revealed juicy details about Season 5B and what to expect.

‘Lucifer’ Season 5 will hit Netflix in two parts

After waiting for over a year, fans were delighted to catch up with the devil himself, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) with Season 5 of Lucifer. But many were surprised to find that Netflix only dropped the first eight episodes, which make up just half of the season.

The split season is a result of the pause in production freeze caused by the coronavirus shut down in March. In a recent interview with Da Man Magazine, Tom Ellis revealed that the crew was almost half-way done with filming the season finale when the production was paused.

“We were agonizingly close to wrapping but lockdown beat us,” the actor said. “So, we still have 60 percent of our season five finale to shoot.”

Filming is scheduled to begin in mid-October. So fans should look out for Season 5B near the end of 2020, or early 2021.

Season 5 brings God and a lot more into Lucifer’s life

In Season 5, Lucifer fans will get to see the Devil in his own playground. The season premiere opens with Lucifer living in hell, while the rest of his friends lament over his departure on Earth.

And throughout the season, new characters will emerge, including members of Lucifer’s celestial family. His father, aka God (Dennis Haysbert) will make an appearance at some point in the season, and he will likely play a pivotal role in how Lucifer proceeds to shape his life. And as seen in the trailer for the season, Lucifer will face his twin brother Michael, who is hellbent on taking the Devil’s life.

Aimee Garcia reveals what fans can expect with Season 5B

It looks like the next installment of Lucifer will be even more thrilling than the first. In an interview with Brief Take, series’ star Aimee Garcia talked about some of the exciting new episodes fans can expect when the second half of Season 5 drops.

“I feel honored, I feel very lucky, I feel very grateful and excited, because I think that they’re going to be in for a treat,” she teased.  “You think 5A is good, just wait until 5B! You’ve got that musical episode going — we have a Girl’s Night Out episode, we have a Film Noir episode, Ella’s going to be in one of the darkest scenes we’ve ever had, in which you would never expect, as you saw.”

Garcia revealed that fans will be getting to see more of Tom Ellis with his dual role. And she also suggested ‘Deckerstar’ shippers would get more of the love story they’ve been pining for.

“You have Michael, you have Tom (Ellis) playing two characters, you have Deckerstar, which obviously the fans love, Ella’s such a Deckerstar ‘shipper, so you have everything you ever wanted, on a show to which you dedicated so much time,” Garcia added. “You’ve watched our show, that means you’ve given it 80 hours of your life! And I feel like we owe it to you guys to bring it home in the best way, that makes people feel like they’re really satisfied with a story and characters that they love.”
