Love Island’s Connagh desperate to get back with Rebecca despite humiliation
Love Island's Connagh Howard is desperate to get back with Rebecca Gormley despite being humiliated.
The rejected Islander claims he has no regrets after being embarrassed by the Geordie beauty in Friday's explosive recoupling.
Connagh somehow managed to get kicked out of the villa even though three of the girls were interested in coupling up with him.
In the ultimate shock result, Rebecca chose to couple up with new lad Luke T, Jess went for Luke M, while Siannise got her revenge by picking Nas.
Speaking after his villa exit, red-faced Connagh has admitted he could have "played it safe" like other game players.
On the recoupling, he said: "I wasn’t confident because Rebecca’s quite hard to read, she doesn’t give too much away.
"Even before the two new lads came in I was trying to see where her head was at, who she was interested in and she didn’t say too much… So I had doubts in my mind.
"If I’m still single and if she does have a change of heart in the future and wanted to try again, I wouldn’t completely close it off."
Despite the sour ending, Connagh admitted he had a "pretty good experience" and would not have done anything differently.
He said: "I probably could have played it safe to stay in a little bit longer. I don’t think that would be the right way to go about it. You want to be as true to yourself as you can.”"
The dumped Islander confessed there was "fear of the unknown" when the new boys walked in and threatened to steal his girl.
He explained: "You haven’t got a clue what these lads are going to be like, who they’re interested in. I definitely had an idea one of them would be interested in Rebecca because she’s a stunning girl. People are going to be interested.
"But after meeting them, I could sympathise with them, because I had been in their position too. So, there wasn’t any hostility from me – I get it, you’ve come in here for the same reasons as I have.
"Everyone deserves their fair chance to get to know whoever. It was nice to see new faces in the villa as well."
Connagh does not believe any of the Islanders are playing a game but does admit he is optimistic and perhaps could not tell.
He added: "Stand out couples for me would probably be Callum and Shaughna. I feel like they’re just being themselves and vibing well.
"I don’t see anyone who is being disingenuous."
