Love Island fans complain to Ofcom as Siânnise Fudge compares parter Nas Majeed to Aladdin

Love Island viewers have complained to Ofcom after contestant Siânnise Fudge was seen comparing her partner Nas Majeed to Disney character Aladdin in the first episode of the show.

The “shocking” clip was shown during the launch episode which aired on Sunday 12 January, where 25 year old Siânnise from Bristol tells 23 year old Nas he “kind of looks like Aladdin” after being coupled up with him, despite not stepping forward for him.

As Nas stepped out, none of the ladies step forward for him and new host Laura Whitmore asked Siânnise why she didn’t fancy him.

Siânnise then made light of the situation by saying she “wasn’t too sure about his shorts”. Later, as the initial couples for the sixth series of the reality dating show came together, Laura asked Siânnise if she was warming to the idea of being coupled with Nas.

The beauty consultant then likened Nas to Aladdin and revealed this made her warm to him as she was a fan of the Disney movie.

She said: “He’s lovely. I love Princess Jasmine and he kind of looks like Aladdin.”

Nas then seemed quite chuffed by Siânnise’s comment as he replied: “Oh my God, don’t even do that to me, I’m actually gassed now.”

The pair continued to discuss the reference later in the show and Nas later said Siânnise “could be his Jasmine”.

Although Nas seemed to approve of Siânnise likening him to the Disney character, Love Island viewers were less than impressed as they took to Twitter to air their frustrations.

And a spokesperson for Love Island didn't respond directly to the Aladdin comment, but told the publication: “We speak to all of the islanders, both before and during the show, to remind them of what we consider to be acceptable behaviour during their time in the villa.”

Siânnise’s comment isn’t the only thing that got viewers talking on Twitter, as some were left baffled by fellow islander Connor Durman throwing a strop after Sophie Piper made a joke about him having a threesome after a first date.

Meanwhile, others were left divided as Laura Whitmore made her debut appearance as the new host for the show.
