Love Island bombshell Jay dumped me for the show – he’s a psycho like Joe from You, says his ex | The Sun

LOVE Island bombshell Jay Younger's ex-girlfriend has likened him to the psychotic serial killer from Netflix's You after he dumped her out of the blue.

The 28-year-old investment analyst from Edinburgh made a big impression on the female Islanders after he arrived in the villa with fellow newcomer Remi Lambert last night.

But his ex Mal, 24, claims Jay can be "brutal, cutthroat and selfish" – and has warned the girls to watch out.

She compares his "pristine and structured" lifestyle to You's charming narcissist Joe Goldberg [Penn Badgley] – but assures fans they don't share the same murderous tendencies.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Mal says Jay split up with her shortly before Christmas following an intense six month relationship.

She had been preparing to spend the festive period with his family but was left traumatised when the hunk returned home from an impromptu 'work trip' to London and called it a day.

He told her he was moving to the English capital, knocking Mal for six.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, she says: "It was traumatising. I didn't recognise him. I was looking at him and did not see him at all. It was horrible. 

"I was meant to be spending Christmas with his family. I don't want to experience anything like that again. It was brutal."

Their time together was Mal's first serious adult romance and she calls it the "most intense experience of her life".

She continues: "He falls quite fast and is 100 percent very jealous.

"That's another characteristic. He's very selfish and will do absolutely anything to benefit him. He is absolutely cut-throat. Something he would say is 'people are disposable'. I'm intrigued to see what he does with these girls."

During their relationship, Mal recalled a conversation she had with Jay and their flatmate in which he joked that SHE would be a big hit in the villa.

She explains: "He said 'if you went on that show Mal, you'd be the nation's sweetheart'. He, quote on quote, said that to me, and I was like 'obviously that wouldn't happen because we're in a relationship'. So the irony, that he's now doing it, what the f**k?

"Me and the flatmate would always joke 'Jay's like the guy from You. The guy Joe, from the show, is very methodical, he's a serial killer murderer, obviously Jay's not, but the way he's so pristine. We would always joke, saying 'you never see Jay with a cap on cos he's Joe from You.'"

Jay's Love Island promo shot sees him proudly showing off his ripped body and bulging muscles.

A glance at his social media page reveals a man who never skips gym day and likes pushing his body to the limit in tough challenges.

But achieving that Adonis like figure comes at a price.

Reeling off her ex's strict dietary routine, Mal says: "He's got a very unique personality, very focused on his career and the gym; he's very military, almost, with what he does."

Jay's brother tells The Sun: "It is very hurtful to see others mischaracterise Jay and label him with defamatory, unkind remarks that he has no ability to respond to right now. Everything here is completely inaccurate. We're looking forward to Jay showing viewers the kind, funny and intelligent guy his friends and family know and love."

According to Mal, Jay's average day begins with a drink containing raw egg, then he devours eight pieces of Weetabix with raspberries; it's followed by kale, chicken thighs and pasta through the day, and at 8pm he has two squares of dark chocolate.

She adds that he never drinks alcohol, preferring water and milk.

In a final jibe at her ex, Mal laughs: "I hope the villa has stocked up on enough eggs!"
