Louise Redknapp says she still loves ex Jamie and she'll be 'sad forever' about their split – even though they speak every day

LOUISE Redknapp has revealed she still loves ex Jamie and she'll be "sad forever" about their split – although they continue speak every day.

The 44-year-old, who split from the former footballer in 2017 after 20 years of marriage, reflected on a difficult 12 months and explained that she's an "emotional person".

Louise told Metro: "I always hold everything in my heart and there'll never be a day that I don't feel sad about it because he was my husband for 20 years and the love I had for him will never leave me.

"But, I've had to pick myself up and find a better place and I'm definitely loving working again."

The West End star insisted that they are putting their sons; Charley, 14, and Beau, 10, first and said that Jamie is an "amazing" dad.

She added: "He is an amazing dad and we speak every day because the kids do a million things. We live five minutes from each other and when you've got children your lives are very much intertwined."

Her comments come as Louise was pictured looking downcast as she stepped out in London today.

The Strictly star looked stylish in a black blazer, T-shirt and straight leg denims, as she pushed her luggage to her waiting car.

Earlier this week, Louise told Chris Evans on his Virgin Radio Breakfast Show that she only gets Sundays off from her West End show but is forced to stand in a freezing cold field to watch her two sons play rugby – because Jamie is at work.

Although they share parenting responsibilities, Louise has got the short end of the stick now that she's returned to work and currently performing in 9 To 5: The Musical.

"I do all eight shows a week so I have Sunday off," she told Chris.

"So do you go out on a Saturday night?" the fun-loving radio host asked.

"We do go out," she admitted. "But Sunday morning is sport morning, I'm on the rugby pitch for four hours."

"Jamie works a lot on the weekend because he's at the football," she explained. "My older one doesn't even appreciate it, he's like, 'Why are you here?'"

But despite relaunching her music career and appearing in the West End, Louise is looking forward to being a stay-at-home mum again soon.

"It's been great, I've loved it," she said about her gruelling stage schedule.

"I would do it forever if it was just for me but I've got two boys and I look forward to having the summer with them. I see them every night but I get to be a stay-at-home mum for three months."
