'Law & Order: SVU': Ice-T Talks About Hitting His 450th Episode and Gives Some Wise Advice

Most fans of Law & Order: SVU can’t imagine the iconic series without Ice-T, who plays Odafin Tutuola. He goes by Fin and he’s a cool and collected type of individual. Read on to learn what Ice-T thinks of hitting his 450th episode of the hit series.

‘Law & Order: SVU’ has a podcast called ‘Squadroom’

SVU has its own podcast called Squadroom. The podcast was created by NBC and Dick Wolf’s company, Wolf Entertainment. The host is Anthony Roman and the series takes a closer look at SVU with a unique twist on season 21.

Ice-T talks on ‘Squadroom’

Ice-T sat down on the series along with the writer of his 450th episode, Denis Hamill called “I Deserve Some Loving Too.” Ice-T plays the second-longest-running character on the series to date, besides Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) that is.

“It really doesn’t feel like 450 episodes, but I guess itis. Somebody’s counting,” Ice-Tlaughed. It’s also Kelli Giddish’s (Amanda Rollins) 200th episode. Ice-Tcommented on how she still feels new on the series. “And I know Chris [Meloni]did 12 years, but it really does become a blur. And you know age and time isvery strange, so I’m just happy to still be here. It’s just amazing peoplestill love the show,” Ice-T said.

Ice-T drops some wise advice

Ice-T has been on the series a long time, and he’s obviouslyseen people come and go over the years as the show has progressed. He was alsoasked how people coming and going from the show impacts him personally.

“Well, I just have a philosophy. Of course I don’t likeseeing people leave,” Ice-T explained. “I look at it like a football team. Whenthey come in, I’m like ‘Okay, regardless to us losing a player, I still wannawin.’ So it’s not going to make matters better to be rude or mean to people.”

Ice-T says some people come on the series and are ‘line-hungry’

Ice-T seems to be a real team player. He wants the series to do well regardless of who is acting on it or not. He’s all about giving out helpful advice to newer actors on the series as well.

“It’s like, ‘Okay, Jamie [Gray Hyder], you’re new. This is how the game is played. This is a marathon. This is not a sprint,’” Ice-T said. “A lot of new actors come on and they’re line-hungry. They really wanna act. And I’m like, ‘They’re gonna throw you with a ton of work. But, it’s an ensemble cast, so it’s gonna get moved around so don’t get freaked out if right out the gate you don’t have a ton of lines because the writers will give you an episode and drop you a chunk of work.’”

It sounds like Ice-T knows what he’s talking about when it comes to staying successful and relevant on a hit series for over 20 years.
