“In Living Color” creator Keenen Ivory Wayans is taking over for Saladin Patterson as showrunner on “The Last O.G.” for the Tracy Morgan and Tiffany Haddish-led TBS comedy’s upcoming third season.

The Turner-owned network made the announcement during the Television Critics Association’s press tour Wednesday, also revealing Wayans will direct four episodes of “The Last O.G.” Season 3.

This marks the second showrunner switch the series, co-created by Morgan and Jordan Peele, has seen since its inception. Patterson took over for original showrunner John Carcieri before Season 1 premiered.

“I’m thrilled and excited to be working with such a great cast, team of producers and reuniting with Tracy Morgan,” Wayans said. “Together we’re all going to take the show to the next level.”

“We can’t wait to see where Keenen takes this series next,” added Brett Weitz, general manager of TBS, TNT and truTV. “It’s honestly a dream scenario to work with one of the true trail-blazers of social humor; he’s the perfect fit for ‘The Last O.G.’”

Best known for creating, executive producing and hosting the Emmy-winning sketch comedy series “In Living Color,” which launched the careers of comedians like Jamie Foxx and Jim Carrey, Wayans’ additional credits include directing “White Chicks,” “Scary Movie” and “Scary Movie 2,” co-writing “Hollywood Shuffle” with Robert Townsend, and co-producing “Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood.”

“The Last O.G.” debuted as cable’s No. 1 comedy in 2018, with Season 2 scoring a multiplatform audience of 32.5 million viewers so far, per TBS.

Along with Morgan and Haddish, the series stars Allen Maldonado, Ryan Gaul, Taylor Christian Mosby, Dante Hoagland and Cedric the Entertainer.

“The Last O.G.” is executive produced by Wayans and Tracy Morgan along with Peele for Monkeypaw Productions, Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum for The Tannenbaum Company and Joel Zadak of Artists First.
