Katie Price's fury as ex Dwight Yorke fails to contact critically ill son Harvey in intensive care

KATIE Price has been left upset and angry after seriously ill son Harvey’s dad Dwight Yorke failed to get in touch as his son lay fighting for his life in hospital.

Former footballer Dwight didn’t contact ex Katie to get an update on his son’s health – but did call into TalkRadio to speak about Manchester United’s performance against Southampton last night.

“Katie’s furious – she can’t believe that Dwight didn’t even bother calling to check on his son,” says the insider.

“Harvey is fighting for his life and is suffering serious health issues and Dwight’s just ignoring the whole situation.

“It’s not like he is busy or doesn’t know – it’s been front page news and he found the time to call into TalkSport.

“It’s very upsetting for Katie. She’s not happy.”

Harvey, 18, was rushed into Epsom Hospital in Surrey on Sunday night after falling ill with a temperature of 42 degrees.

He’s been in intensive care and has been tested for coronavirus after struggling to breathe.

Devastated Katie is said to be “preparing for the worst” and has been seen visiting her son, who suffers from health complications including the rare genetic condition Prader-Willi syndrome, which can cause weight gain and behavioural problems.

He’s also partially blind and on the autistic spectrum.

It is the second time Harvey has needed hospital treatment in two weeks after he fell ill at sister Princess’ 13th birthday party.

Harvey experienced chest pains that felt like “pins and needles” but was later sent home after being diagnosed with a chest infection.

Speaking to The Sun earlier this month Katie revealed doctors told her Harvey is at serious risk of dying from a heart attack if he does not lose weight.

Katie said: “When Harvey went into hospital, I feared the worst. I always do.

“The doctors have told me he’s at high risk of having a heart attack. He’s 27½st, wears 5XL clothes and he gets out of breath walking up the stairs. So of course I panicked.”

Former Manchester United footballer Dwight initially denied being Harvey’s father but following a paternity test in 2002, reconciled with Katie.

But after their split, Dwight and Harvey’s relationship fizzled out. However, in 2009, when Katie’s then-husband Peter Andre wanted to adopt Harvey, Dwight said he “wanted to throttle” the singer and refused.

Last year, on her YouTube channel, Katie begged Dwight to get in touch with his son, adding: “What I would like to do is turn up to his dad’s place – Dwight Yorke’s – ring on the doorbell and be there with Harvey, for him to see Harvey.

“That’s what I would like to do and I will do that. I think Dwight should start entering Harvey’s life, it’s been years. How long has it been? Harvey was four when he last saw him.”

Katie's representative told The Sun: "I can confirm that Dwight has not contacted Katie enquiring after Harvey's health.

"Katie is naturally upset but has had to accept that he doesn't want to be a father to his son Harvey."
