Justice League Snyder Cut teaser trailer: Darkseid revealed in unseen Wonder Woman footage

Zack Snyder is currently working on his Justice League Snyder Cut for HBO Max next year. And the first unseen footage in the form of a teaser trailer has been shared by the director on Twitter today. The 54-year-old wrote: “First ever sneak peek at JL. Get ready for more at DC FanDome.”

Snyder was referring to the 24-hour virtual DC fan event taking place on August 22.

It’s expected that this is when the first full trailer for Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be released.

But for now, in the new footage, Wonder Woman is seen with a fiery torch examining ancient markings.

And the voice of Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor can be heard speaking.

Superman’s nemesis, who only cameoed in the end credits scene of Joss Whedon’s cut of Justice League talks as Wonder Woman discovers an image of Darkseid.

Luthor says ominously: “The bell’s already been rung and they’ve heard it. Not in the dark, among the stars. Ding dong, the god is dead.”

Suddenly we see Darkseid standing armed with his alien forces gathered behind him.

The supervillain didn’t feature in the cinematic version of Justice League, with his uncle Steppenwolf being the main baddie in the original version.

DC’s very own Thanos in Darkseid has long been awaited by fans after he didn’t feature in Whedon’s cut.

But now Snyder is bringing the supervillain in for fans to see in all his glory.

When the new cut was announced last month, the filmmaker revealed that we’ve only seen a fourth of what he shot.

During production, Snyder tragically had to leave directing Justice League after his daughter died by suicide.

Whedon was brought in to finish directing the movie, adding more humour and new scenes – the result was something far away from the Snyder’s original intentions.

The director, who has never seen the cinematic release, told The Hollywood Reporter: “It will be an entirely new thing.

“And, especially talking to those who have seen the released movie, a new experience apart from that movie.”

With a budget of around $20-30 million, much of the original post-production team are returning for this new version of Justice League.

They’ll add and finish unused visual effects and stars like Henry Cavill and Jason Momoa could well be brought in to provide additional dialogue.

The result will be a four-hour director’s cut or a six-chapter miniseries for HBO Max in 2021.

And considering the poster is black and white, and Snyder admitted to screening a version of his cut to Hollywood executives in that format, perhaps we’re looking at a colourless version of Justice League next year.
