Jonathan Ross reveals one of his daughters has autism but was misdiagnosed as a child – The Sun
JONATHAN Ross has revealed one of his daughters suffers with autism – but was misdiagnosed as a child.
The 59 year old presenter opened up about the condition – in which sufferers struggle to socialise or relate to other people – on a new podcast.
Speaking on Lockdown Parenting Hell, he said: “One of my children I’m pretty sure has a level of autism.
“She was very late to talk and she fixed on certain things, and she was very strange about people.
“We took her to be assessed but not for that, [and] because this was early 90s and when that stuff wasn’t really talked about as much.
“But now we showed someone the medical report and they said, ‘yes, now she would absolutely be diagnosed as autistic’, but back then she wasn’t.”
The broadcaster has two grown-up daughters, plus-size fashion influencer Honey, 22, and Betty, 28. It is not known which child he was discussing.
Around 700,000 people in the UK suffer with autism, which is incurable.
The condition is a developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with other people, and how they experience the world around them.
