Joe Wicks reveals he snubbed the BBC’s offer of screening his workouts as he 'doesn't need them'

JOE WICKS reveals he turned down an offer from the BBC for a fitness show – as his online workouts have proved such a hit during lockdown.

As I revealed in March, the Body Coach was also approached by Channel 4 after his daily sessions were getting almost a million views globally.

Speaking to Men’s Health magazine, he said: “All these channels are coming to me, and I’ve said to them, ‘Look, I want to do this on YouTube.

"I’m reaching more people. Why would I want to do it with you?’”

He added of his lockdown boom: “Normally, I’d be lucky to get 100,000 views of a workout over six months. I’d never seen anything like it. It’s blown me away."

It was revealed last month that the fitness star could be in line for an OBE after hundreds of fans put his name forward.

The Body Coach has raised more than £350,000 for the NHS through his YouTube classes in lockdown.

A source said: “Hundreds of requests putting his name forward for an OBE have been handed to the Honours committee. Many have been written by children who think Joe is fantastic."
