Jimmy Kimmel Live announces Anthony Anderson and Billy Eichner as guest hosts amid blackface scandal – The Sun
ABC has revealed Anthony Anderson and Billy Eichner will be stepping in as guest hosts on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The announcement comes after the 52-year-old original host revealed he was taking a break from the talk show.
The presenter also recently faced backlash after past skits and audio of him using the n-word to impersonate Snoop Dogg resurfaced.
New host Anderson is set to appear on episodes airing Monday, July 6 and Tuesday, July 7.
Meanwhile, Eichner will take over for July 8 and 9.
It's not the first time the star has welcomed guest hosts – previously Jennifer Lawrence, Channing Tatum and former Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg have all stepped in.
Jimmy has come under fire in recent weeks after he was caught using the n-word while imitating Snoop Dogg for a song from a 1996 Christmas album.
He said the racial slur multiple times in the track, and admitted to imitating Snoop in a 2013 podcast, according to Fox News.
Kimmel references “a fat n***** in a sleigh giving s*** away,” as well as a “n***** in the manger.”
He also raps: "I told that motherf***er Santa, bring a pick for my afro."
The late-night star told podcast host Adam Carolla in 2013 that he was 'doing Snoop,' explaining: “This is when Snoop Dogg first came out, hit the scene, and I used to imitate him by only saying, ‘You know what I’m saying?’"
Kimmel also admitted to using a "crazy black voice" to imitate comedian George Wallace.
He has also been criticized for using blackface in sketches from when he was on The Man Show from 1999 to 2004.
The comedian has now apologized for wearing blackface, admitting that "looking back, many of these sketches are embarrassing".
Last month, Jimmy revealed he was taking a break from his late night show to spend time with his family.
Announcing the news, he said: "I'm taking the summer off to spend even more time with my family," Kimmel announced.
"I've been doing this job for almost 18 years. I've done 3,130 shows and there's nothing wrong. My family is healthy, I'm healthy. I just need a couple of months off."
