Polizzi announced that the show is no longer a fit for her and she’ll be retiring. She went into detail about the reason behind her decision on the podcast, It’s Happening With Snooki & Joey.

“OK, you guys, I love you so much, and don’t hate me for my decision, but I have to do what’s best for me at the moment, and I am retiring from Jersey Shore,” she said. “I am not coming back to Jersey Shore [Family Vacation] for a season 4, if there is one. And there’s a lot of reasons why, but the main reason is really … I’m just like, I just can’t do it anymore.”

Her children are the main reason why she doesn’t want to film anymore. “I hate being away from the kids,” she said. “I don’t like partying three days in a row. It’s just not my life anymore. And I wanna be home with the kids. You know, like, I don’t mind here and there going to a dinner or whatever, but it’s just really hard on me to leave the kids and film the show.”

Polizzi doesn’t care about walking away from the money

The reality star had a little more to say with her big announcement. She posted a video of her talking about retirement on Instagram.

One fan commented with, “Girl. You crazy. Ride the $$$ train while it’s still going… won’t last forever and it never happens again.” Polizzi responded with, “My happiness comes before money.”

The mother isn’t the only one to talk openly about how hard it is to be away from her family to film. Deena Cortese recently gave birth to her first child. She talked about how work is different for her now.

“The show is an opportunity for my family,” she told Us Weekly. “It’s such a headspace. I want to just be with him 24/7, but at the same time this show gives him opportunities and I love being with my roommates. So it’s such a double-edged sword, you know?”

She added, “But at the end of the day, I know the show is good for him and I have to work too. Luckily … I can be mostly a stay-at-home mom. It just takes me away here and there.”

She reportedly didn’t tell some of them before her retirement

Fans were surprised by her announcement, but reportedly so were her fellow cast members. There were some who had no clue she planned on leaving.

“Nicole did not tell all her Jersey Shore castmates that she was retiring before she made the announcement,” a source told Us Weekly. “It came as a surprise to more than one of them.”

It’s not clear who knew about Polizzi’s decision and who was surprised by it. The rest of the cast hasn’t publicly reacted to the news yet.
