JANE McDonald has set the record straight following an internet prank which appeared to announce she was forming part of Rishi Sunak's government.
The singer and TV star took to Twitter to shut down the online prank with a very clear message.
The poster in questions showcased a picture of a smiling Jane alongside the caption: "The RT Hon Jane McDonald MP appointed Secretary of State for cruise ships and entertainment."
Jane was able to see the funny side of the joke and even admitted that some of her loyal fans and followers thought it was real and that she was transitioning into politics.
The bubbly star wrote: "This is hilarious! A number of people have got in touch to congratulate me on this – just to confirm that it isn’t real.
"Someone put it on social media as a joke!"

Jane's followers were quick to comment on the prank with the joke originator themselves having something to say.
They wrote: "Oh, Jane I made this and what an honour to get approval (I think!)"
Another fan said: "Never mind Secretary of State, you would make a better PM than some we have had in the last few years."
A third fan remarked: "I love this, pity it isn’t true."

While another adoring fan threw their full support around Jane, saying: "I'd vote for you Jane."
Jane recently announced that she is filming once again after taking a short break from the limelight.
Speaking to Loose Women star Kaye Adams on her podcast How To Be 60, Jane at the time admitted: "I'm a lot better than when I was on Loose Women. I can talk about him now and just feel great that I had that amazing time with him."
The Crusing with Jane McDonald star continued: "And it's funny, we should talk about retiring because he retired at 59. And said, I promise you when you get to this age, you'll see a difference. And I have. So we had lots of plans.
“And I think that's part of grief as well is that you go through the normal grief and the terrible, terrible time and then you grieve the life that you thought you were gonna have."
