Is Shona leaving Coronation Street?

Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) has been missing from Weatherfield for a good few weeks now.

The character has been busy in London with her stepdaughter Lily Platt (Brooke Malonie), as the young footballing star embarked on a six-week training course to further her skills.

A stint down south served as a swift and temporary exit storyline for actor Julia, 37, who went on maternity leave after welcoming her second child in November 2022.

But her return to Coronation Street has been suitably dramatic – leaving some curious whether she’s set to leave the show again?

Here’s all we know.

Is Shona leaving Coronation Street?

Fans were delighted to see Shona return in Monday’s (February 20) episode.

She’s been in London with Lily since January, and was no doubt looking forward to seeing her husband David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) upon her return.

Alas, everything now seems up in the air between the couple.

David was caught trying to kiss Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) while drunk, after struggling to deal with his son Max Turner (Paddy Bever) being in prison and getting attacked.

A fuming Shona then found out about the incident – thanks to Gary Windass (Mikey North).

What a welcome back home, eh?

Viewers saw Shona telling David she’s leaving him, even packing her bags after the betrayal.

However, fans will be pleased to know that this isn’t the last we’ll see of HER.

Julia herself has previously hinted that this isn’t her walking out of Weatherfield for good.

In recent comments, the actor, who joined the hit ITV soap in 2016, shared that Shona probably won’t stay away from David for too long.

She explained to Inside Soap Magazine: ‘Every time Shona’s away, David tries to get off with someone else!

‘The Shona of old would have [left David and the family], because she is more cutthroat.

‘But Shona and David have been through so much together and she really loves the kids; she quite likes the life she has.

‘She sees that as something worth saving – you do when you grow up, don’t you? You don’t pack your bags half as much when you have a row…’
