Is Carla leaving Coronation Street in the wake of the factory roof collapse?

Added to that she had the burden of financial issues and was unable to afford to get the roof properly fixed, instead getting Gary Windass (Mikey North) to do a repair job for just £8,000 instead of the £60,000 needed to have it done properly.

How has Carla Connor been affected by the factory roof collapse?

The tragedy has pretty much tipped Carla over the edge- leading to her having a serious mental breakdown as the entire street began to turn against her in the wake of Rana’s death.

With health and safety inspector Wayne Hayes (Adam Barlow) – Roy’s former foster child – having appeared on the scene to conduct an investigation into what happened, things have become increasingly dififcult for her.

However she was goaded into confessing that she knew there was a problem with the roof at Rana’s wake, as Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill) publicly pointed the finger at her in front of the crowd.

And as if that wasn’t bad enough, the police then arrived to arrest her for Gross Negligence Manslaughter.

What happens next?

Carla is set to become increasingly unstable after receiving a message online saying that she destroys everything she touches – with the identity of the sender leaving her shocked.

All of which will lead to her paranoia growing and Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) finding her barefoot outside the ruins of the factory, as she becomes increasingly convinced that someone close to her is trying to kill her.

Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) arranges for her to have an appointment with mental health services, but will it be toe late?

So is Carla leaving?

While the true culprit of the roof collapse has yet to be revealed, but while it’s too early to say what will happen to Carla long-term Alison King has hinted that she will come out the other side of her breakdown.

‘This is just the start of it for Carla and it will be interesting to see what sort of person she is when she eventually comes out the other side. She is paying for what happened at the factory whether it was actually her fault or not.’

‘It’s just too much,’ she revealed. ‘She sees what has happened and goes into meltdown. It is the final thing for her, the straw that finally breaks the camel’s back.
