I’m A Celebrity stars in awkward clash as they claim ‘He threw me under the bus’

I’m A Celeb – Mark Jefferies on Nick Pickard elimination

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star Sam Thompson and Nigel Farage entered a heated altercation tonight after some rice was burnt. Nigel had been made sous chef since Nick Pickard was booted from the camp last night.

Since the camp leaders have been choosing who will cook dinners, there have been many tense conversations. The first started when Fred Sirieix didn’t like the way Josie Gibson was cooking before Sam began to get too excited around the fire when cooking.

Tonight, Sam and Nigel were both blaming one another for some rice being burnt and ended in a tense altercation. Nigel said to Sam: “I’ve put the rice on and it’s reducing slowly. There’s enough water in there for the moment.”

Thinking that Nigel had it under control, Sam laid down and noted: “I can sort of chill,” before Nigel added: “That should be fine for a few minutes.”

Explaining his reason for taking control, Nigel said in the Bush Telegraph: “Everybody was asleep. I thought, ‘Well look, we’ve got to get the rice on.’

“So I put the rice on, the water’s reducing in the rice and soon it’s going to be done,” but Sam soon woke up to the smell of burning rice and asked: “Why does this smell like it’s burning?”

Working out that it was burning, Sam in the Bush Telegraph said: “I don’t know if I’ve burnt the rice. I don’t know who has burnt the rice.”

Confronting Sam, Nigel told him: “Sam, I did say to you it was reducing. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. He’s ruined the rice.”

Confused over what had happened, Sam exclaimed: “I thought you had it,” before Nigel quipped back: “I said to you, it’s reducing.”

In the Bush Telegraph Danielle commented on the debacle and added: “Sam and Nigel not doing so great in the kitchen. They have both burnt that rice.”

Trying to save the rice, Sam explained: “It’ll do. It tastes like burnt popcorn,” but Tony was left less than impressed: “You had one job, Sam. You’re head chef. You fell asleep on the job.”

Annoyed by backing Sam up, Nigel defended: “To be fair, he has taken full responsibility,” as Sam rallied: “I think it’s going to be lovely.”

Marvin added in the Bush Telegraph: “One’s blaming the other, Sam’s blaming Nigel, Nigel’s blaming Sam.”

Sam admitted: “Communication was lacking. Nige, threw me right under the bus. I’m almost certain I didn’t hear him say, ‘Can you watch over it?’

“As head chef, I’m taking responsibility.”
