Hollyoaks star Nadine Mulkerrin reveals Cleo McQueen's return

Hollyoaks star Nadine Mulkerrin has teased her return to the serial drama.

The actress — who portrays Cleo McQueen on the Channel 4 soap — has been on maternity leave since late summer last year, and gave birth to son Reggie in October.

However, it appears as if we could be set to see Cleo back on screens in the near the future, as actress Nadine posted a story on Instagram Stories (August 24), which suggested as such.

The picture in question featured a look at the front of several scripts — all of which had Nadine’s name written on them.

Cleo was written out of the long-running serial amid the actress’ pregnancy, and her final storyline saw her discover that boyfriend Mitchell Deveraux (Imran Adams) was gay, and had been seeing her best friend Scott Drinkwell (Ross Adams).

The episode in question was a game-changing three-hander, and finished out what was already a huge week, with the annual October stunt having taken place just a couple of episodes before.

The three-hander instalment was recently re-shown amid Hollyoaks Favourites.

The Channel 4 soap was forced to shut down production amid the Covid-19 pandemic, and episodes were subsequently rationed out in an effort to keep it on air for as long as possible.

The final pre-lockdown episode aired July 20, but the soap will return to screens with new instalments on September 7.

Hollyoaks returns to screens September 7 at 6:30pm on Channel 4, followed by the return of first-look at 7pm on E4.
