Hollyoaks Gregory Finnegan’s wife is joining the soap – as the police officer who arrests James over ex boyfriend Harry’s death

HOLLYOAKS' Gregory Finnegan’s wife has joined the soap – as the cop who locks up his character James Nightingale.

James is set to arrested over boyfriend Harry’s death by the soap's new character, DS Cohen.

And the actor who plays James has a surprising real-life connection to his new co-star.

He told Radio Times: "Now my wife has joined the show, any change in the filming schedules is a double whammy for childcare.

"So it's all go, it makes things somewhat difficult but we are getting through it!

"It's lovely having her here. The first scenes she did were actually with me when James had to identify the body.

"She has got to know the cast and is making friends – now she finally can put faces to the names I've been talking about all these years! It's good fun working with her."

Harry was bumped off by Hollyoaks serial killer Breda McQueen (Moya Brady).

Speaking about his exit from the soap, Parry Glasspool, admitted it was a shock to find out Harry's story had come to an end.

He said: "I found out in March and I was a bit shocked, but I've always said that it's better to go out with a bang. I've been playing Harry for five years now and you do empathise with your character, so on that level, I didn't think he deserved to be killed.

He added to Digital Spy: "So there were a lot of feelings going through my head when I found out. It's sad to say goodbye for good to someone you've played."

And he admitted he wanted Harry to survive the attack so that he could one day return to the soap.

Pascal said: "I did think that if we kept Harry alive, I could possibly come back. I would have loved to have kept Harry alive through the ages, but it'll be nice to do something else now."
