Hollyoaks goes to Rome in iconic flashback Favourite

Hollyoaks is taking viewers back in time once more next week, as it returns to 2005 for a classic instalment centring around Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) and Mandy Richardson’s (Sarah Jayne Dunn) trip to Rome.

Over the past couple of months, viewers have been enjoying some of the Channel 4 soap’s finest outings from years gone by.

Two special series — Hollyoaks Favourites and Hollyoaks@25 — kept us entertained with classic episodes during the Covid-19 pandemic, which saw production halt on current instalments.

With newer episodes being rationed out at three a week — before being further cut to two — the soap eventually went off our screens.

Classic episodes were transmitted in its absence, until new outings returned on September 7 — with the soap back on our screens four times a week from Monday to Thursday.

As one can never have too much Hollyoaks, the Friday slot has been occupied with classic episodes once more, and next week’s edition finds us in Rome.

Mandy has landed in Rome to find Tony after she previously broke his heart. She frantically searches the city and eventually tracks him down, but the question is: can she win him back?

Meanwhile, Jack (Jimmy McKenna) is furious when some money goes missing after Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson) held a lock in at the pub with Russ (Stuart Manning), Ben (Marcus Patric) and Louise (Roxanne McKee).

Lee (Alex Carter) and Bombhead (Lee Otway) are on a road trip where Bombhead falls in love.

This episode — the soap’s 1,445th — was initially broadcast on February 8, 2005.

One to watch: Friday November 6 at 7pm on E4.
