Greatest Dancer Cheryl awkwardly ‘snubbed’ by Oti Mabuse ahead of show return

The Greatest Dancer stars Cheryl and Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse were followed by claims that there was tension between them during the first series of the hit BBC show.

Cheryl and Oti clashed on several occasions, most notably when they were discussing who was going to be their finalists, with Cheryl snapping: "I didn't ask you," when Oti tried to give her opinion.

Speaking ahead of the show launch this weekend, Oti seemed to be a lot more enthusiastic when talking about her friendship with Alesha Dixon and Jordan Banjo than Cheryl and Matthew Morrison.

She said: "I am so thrilled to be back with my fellow DCs and presenters! I have a really special relationship with Jordan and Alesha!"

Seeming slightly less enthusiastic, she added: "It’s nice to be reunited with Matthew and Cheryl, they've always been there for me especially in the tough times during the whole show and now we have a new addition, Todrick, who is fantastic!

She previously slammed rumours that she and Oti weren't getting along, after a show insider claimed that Cheryl was "acting like a diva on set".

They told the Sun: "Cheryl clearly sees herself as the bigger name, even though Oti has impeccable dance credentials. It’s created a real atmosphere.

"Cheryl arrived with such an air of superiority — a few of the crew thought she was being a bit of a diva."

They added: "Oti has years of dance competition experience alongside Strictly where she’s been massively popular with fans – but has absolutely no ego at all. They didn’t seem to gel and it was pretty uncomfortable."

A representative there was "no truth" to the rumours and she and Oti worked well together on the show.

She said: "It’s a fabricated story – yet again trying to pit female against female on a TV show. It’s a shame we haven’t moved past this.

"Cheryl absolutely loves working with Oti and has a brilliant relationship with her.”

Mabuse said: "I love Cheryl and had a great time filming The Greatest Dancer with her and I can’t wait to see her again soon."

The Greatest Dancer returns at 7pm on BBC.
