Gemma Collins takes a tumble as she’s dubbed ‘joke act’ on Dancing on Ice

Gemma Collins much anticipated Dancing on Ice debut almost took a turn for the worst when she took an unfortunate tumble.

The Essex diva threw everything at the performance as she pulled out everything from the splits to cheeky hair flips as she as she skated opposite Matt Evers to Beyonce’s Crazy in Love.

But at the end of her dynamic routine, Gemma fell off balance and almost came crashing down on the hard ice.

Speaking to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield after the performance, Gemma admitted: "I got a bit carried away in the end, because I did a head flick, I wasn’t meant to do it…"

While Gemma was clearly pleased with her performance, the show’s judges were less than impressed.

Jason Gardiner told Gemma the dance reminded him of a "French and Saunders parody".

He said: "You talk a big talk but you don’t back it up. It reminded me of a French and Saunders parody. This was uncomfortable to watch. You haven’t got any technique."

But Gemma fared slightly better with Ashley Banjo , Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean who gave her and Matt a score of 4.5.

There had been rumours in the week that the TOWIE babe was about going to pull out of the show before she’d even skated.

When asked about the speculation by host Phil, Gemma responded: "Two minutes before I came out I looked him in the eyes and went, ‘Please, can I go?’"

But Matt spoke about how well she had done, replying: "First off, she’s iconic, and for somebody who deals with a lot of hate and the trolls… she smashed it and she’s committed to it."

Gemma and Matt received a total of 16.0 from the judges, meaning they’re in the middle of the leaderboard

Dancing on Ice airs Sundays at 6pm on ITV.
