Gary Lineker is worried a robot could replace him as Match of the Day host – The Sun
ENGLAND legend Gary Lineker is worried a robot could replace him as Match of the Day host.
The ex-striker, 58, told his Behind Closed Doors podcast yesterday it was “a matter of time” before cyborgs replaced him and the show’s pundits.
And he quipped: “Some would say they’ve already got robots in.”
He also said the old set had been swapped for a virtual reality screen at MediaCityUK, Manchester.
Lineker has volunteered to lower his £1.75million-a-year salary as the BBC looks to save costs.
On the podcast he also told of being caned on the hand at school.
Lineker said: “Someone said I hit a kid on the way home but I’ve never hit anyone in my life.
“It was so painful. The head would be locked up now. My school report also said I’d never make a living at football.”
