From 'Hamilton' to 'Solo: A Star Wars Story' — Here Are the New Movies Coming to Disney+ During July 2020

Whether you’re counting down the days until Hamilton premieres on this streaming platform or just looking for something new to watch, this streaming platform brings subscribers plenty of new content this month. Here are a few of the movies joining Disney+ during July 2020.

‘Hamilton’ joins the Disney+ streaming library for the first time

They’re not going to give up their shot. Just in time for Independence Day, this Tony award-winning musical joins the Disney+ streaming platform. This version of Hamilton features the original cast of the Broadway production.

Disney+ is the only streaming platform with an adaptation of this story, giving viewers a look into the live performance from the “best seat in the house.” This is, of course, a huge win for musical theater fans everywhere, especially with live musical productions on pause due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

“I’m so proud of how beautifully Tommy Kail has brought Hamilton to the screen. He’s given everyone who watches this film the best seat in the house,” Lin-Manuel Miranda said in a statement, according to Variety. “I’m so grateful to Disney and Disney+ for reimagining and moving up our release to July 4 weekend of this year, in light of the world turning upside down.”

‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ joins the Disney+ library on July 10

How did Chewbacca and Han Solo become best friends? Who did Han Solo date before Princess Leia? How did this outlaw get his hands on the Millenium Falcon? This Star Wars movie tells the story of this rogue hero before he joins forces with Luke and Leia to fight against the Empire.

Until Solo: A Star Wars Story’s debut on Disney+ on July 10, there’s plenty of other Star Wars content available for binge-watching. That includes movies like The Rise of Skywalker from the franchise’s sequel trilogy.

‘The Mighty Ducks’ is coming to Disney+

Everyone loves an underdog story and The Mighty Ducks are pretty much the worst team in their hockey league. That doesn’t stop them from working together to become better hockey players and friends to one another. The Mighty Ducks premieres on Disney’s streaming platform on July 3.

Another ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ movie joins the Disney+ library this July

It’s not easy being the middle child of three boys. Take it from Greg Heffley who, no matter what he does, is always getting the short end of the stick. In the sequel to the original Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie, the story focuses on Greg’s older, trouble-making wannabe rocker brother, named Rodrick.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules joins Disney+ on July 3. The adventures of Greg Heffley and his family don’t stop there. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul joins the platform a few days later, on July 17. To learn more about Disney+ and to subscribe, visit their website.
