Football legend Eric Cantona eyed by bosses for I'm A Celebrity's next series

I‘m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! bosses have reportedly signed up footballing legend Eric Cantona as a contestant for this year’s series.

The 53-year-old made waves on the pitch as a forward for Manchester United, but it seems if producers have their way, he’ll be swapping the football pitch for the Australian jungle this year.

According to The Sun, the show’s big boss Richard Cowles said: ‘I just like the idea of Eric Cantona talking in French and coming up with really profound things.

‘That would be really good.’

It seems like King Eric may well be the big catch for this year’s trip Down Under – much like reality TV icon Caitlyn Jenner was for the 2019 series.

As well as being a footballing legend, Eric established himself as an actor outside of his sporting prowess, so he could both have a little kick around with his camp mates and help put on an amateur production of Hamlet to pass the time.

Sounds like the perfect camp mate to us.

Meanwhile, this year’s alumni of the show are still reaping the rewards that starring on the show can bring.

Good Morning Britain anchor Kate Garraway is gearing up to present her own weekend show alongside campmate Myles Stephenson – who is finally on the mend after a nasty fall while skiing.

Speaking at the Global Awards, she told Metro.co.uk: ‘Everything is going ahead, it’s going to be great, it’s going to be brilliant.’

And speaking of last year’s biggest draw – Keeping Up With The Kardashians star Caitlyn has also recently claimed that she ‘still keeps in touch’ with the crew of the show via FaceTime.

She also had an reunion with presenters Ant and Dec at last year’s National Television Awards.

We wonder if Eric will also snub the Geordie duo after they make him do a similarly disgusting Bushtucker trial? We guess time will tell!

Metro.co.uk has reached ITV for comment.
