Emmerdale's Zoe Henry rules out ever having plastic surgery because she's 'terrified' and has a 'responsibility' as a mother

The 45-year-old actress – who portrays Rhona Goskirk in the longstanding ITV soap – has insisted she will never go under the knife, although she dislikes the "ageing process" because she wants to set a good example to her two kids.

Speaking to The Mirror Online, Zoe – who has daughter Violet, 14, and 10-year-old son Stan with Jeff Hordley – said: "Getting older is not great. I don’t love the ageing process but, that said, I am not prepared to do anything about it in terms of cosmetic surgery, because I’m terrified.

“I have a daughter and a responsibility to her to not starve myself, not inject things into my face. I want to be a good role model for her and for my son.

“My most important job is my children. I love this job, I love being an actor and I wouldn’t give it up for anything.

"But my main job is being a parent, so I have a responsibility to my son and my daughter. It is not a road I would go down. There is a lot to be said for just going with the flow.”

Zoe has described ageing and the menopause as "nature's cruellest blow", but the inevitable life change has made the soap star more aware of her habits and encouraged her to change her lifestyle.

She continued: "It is hard getting older, and it is one of nature’s cruellest blows that women go through the menopause as their children are leaving the nest.

"The menopause is coming and I think that informs how I live my life – I don’t drink, I exercise every day, we cook from scratch.

"I’m investing in myself and doing all I can to keep myself healthy – and whatever happens with the menopause, I will just have to deal with."

Part of her lifestyle change has seen Zoe give up alcohol for good, and she has noticed a huge difference in herself.

Speaking about her extended "Dry January" phase, she said: "The benefits just keep on coming. I usually do a few dry months a year – January, February and March. Then last year I thought I would go through to summer.

"I got to June and I just felt amazing, so I thought, I am not going to reintroduce something I am actually not really missing. I don’t see the point. I’m going to push through till Christmas."

Zoe has insisted she is a "better parent" after going teetotal. She added: "But I am not drinking at the moment and I am enjoying it. Everything feels better – my energy levels are better, I am a better parent."

Meanwhile, the beauty has revealed she is monitoring her teenage daughter's use of social media, although she is "terrified" of online platforms and wouldn't be able to cope if she was a youngster surrounded by Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

She explained: "Had I been at school now, I wouldn’t have coped well with social media – Twitter and Instagram … any of those things would have finished me off.  I am aware that my daughter is on social media and I am mindful that I have to do more than my bit to keep her on an even keel. It is terrifying."
