Emmerdale viewers open-mouthed as Arthur Thomas returns to soap – and looks seriously different

EMMERDALE viewers were gobsmacked at how TALL Arthur Thomas had grown after he returned to the soap.

Arthur – who is played by Alfie Clarke since 2009 – showed off how much taller he had got in such short space of time.

The 13-year-old appeared on the latest episode to help Liam Cavanagh with his eco-friendly greenhouse.

And his absence has given the actor the chance to have a growth spurt.

He returned last night and fans were confused as he appeared to have grown hugely in height and age.

Viewers even went as far as saying he was unrecognisable from just a few months ago as he towered over other characters.

One wrote: "How has little Arthur grown so tall so quickly??? #Emmerdale"

Another posted: "Arthur is 6ft 5 he’s grew a bit."

A third shared: "Oh my goodness what happened to Arthur! I had to rewind that it was the same actor."

"Feel like Arthur's aged about 5 years still think he is like 10," another commented.

Another added: "Am I the only one who realised one child stood out from the pack on Liam's allotment? Arthur. I recognised all the rest straight away."

Arthur has been involved in some hard-hitting storyline – including him bullying Jai Sharma's son Archie.

The son of late vicar Ashley Thomas has been bullying Archie and has even forced him to run away from home.

Emmerdale viewers have been left disturbed by the hard-hitting abuse storyline which saw Arthur bully Archie and threaten him into keeping quiet.

Fans will remember that Archie moved to live with dad Jai following the death of his mum Rachel Spencer late last year.

But Arthur didn’t take well to the new arrival, and has been taking out his own personal grief for his dad on the young lad.

Arthur eventually broke down and finally told his mum that he’s responsible for hurting Archie.
