Emmerdale star hints at Jamie's fate and teases twists

After Jamie Tate (Alexander Lincoln) plunged into that lake, Emmerdale viewers were all divided over whether he was dead or alive – especially when his body was not recovered.

But everyone in the village is certain that he’s a goner; except his mum Kim. After receiving flowers, she was convinced that Jamie had sent them and was proud of her son – but actress Claire King has also said she carries worry that Jamie will be seeking revenge.

That said, the star has alluded to the fact that Kim may indeed be wrong and the flowers may not be from Jamie.

Telling Metro.co.uk that the story has a way to go and has a twist or two, Claire explained Kim’s state of mind as everyone tells her to give up.

She explained to us: ‘The story was a bit of a shock to the system I must say – it was a great twist. Is he dead or isn’t he dead? When she receives the flowers, in her mind, this must be Jamie.

‘She realises the fruit hasn’t fallen far from the tree and maybe he’s grown a pair. So she is confident he is still alive, which obviously sounds completely nuts to everyone else. She’s so convinced though.’

And not just certain – but pretty damn impressed too.

Claire smiled: ‘Suddenly, he’s stolen this money and sent these flowers and set this whole thing up – she’s quite proud as he has never shown that side, he’s always been a little namby pamby.

‘She knows he has this darker side as he did poison and try to kill her. There is kind of this “that’s my boy!” pride, she thinks that maybe he might have grown a pair! At the same time though, she thinks he could be out there to get back at her.’

But is she just tricking herself? Could the flowers actually be from someone else? Claire shared that while Kim is certain, that doesn’t mean she’s right.

She smiled: ‘It’s weird, not many people believe he’s alive. Kim tries to find out what has happened, she thinks Dawn is meeting him, she wonders what Gabby has to do with it which will all come out eventually.

‘She really thinks he is alive which makes her look like she is having a bit of a breakdown. Will is constantly telling her to move on but that just makes her even more stubborn about it all.’

Talking about Kim’s strand as a whole, she added: ‘There’s still a bit to go yet, with a little twist in it…’
