Emmerdale spoilers: Marlon Dingle forced from village after family betrayal

Fans watched in horror in January as Emmerdale’s resident troublemaker Graham Foster (played by Andrew Scarborough) was brutally murdered. It was in fact Pierce Harris (Jonathan Wrather) responsible, but Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) who was arrested. Despite being free, Marlon wants answers and could be ready to leave the village for good.

Rapist Pierce rocked back into the village in dramatic fashion after being locked up for attacking his new wife Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) on their wedding night.

Pierce came back for revenge and planted evidence that was enough to lock up Marlon.

A couple of weeks ago though, Marlon was overjoyed when he was finally released but Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) had been keeping some secrets.

Will he ever be able to forgive her or will this and his own suffering post-prison force him from the village for good?

Mark Charnock has given an insight into what’s to come and the ripple that is about to vibrate through the Dingle family.

The actor explained: “His time in prison has been nightmarish.

“Of all the Dingle’s, he is probably the least well equipped psychologically to deal with being put away let alone for something he didn’t do.

“Going forward I think it is going to affect him adversely and I think he is going to come out and struggle.”

There were at least seven suspects when Graham was killed due to his imposing characteristics.

Charity Dingle was one of them and earlier this month Marlon confronted Charity in the Woolpack for withholding information that could have saved him from spending so long in the cell.

Mark continued: “What happens next is even more extraordinary not just for Marlon but for all these different character groups, all around the show.

“It’s going to continue to ripple and there are going to be these little mini explosions.”

As viewers know, April Dingle (Amelia Flanagan), has been bullied online for her dad’s incarceration.

But when she revealed it to Marlon he was left struggling, not knowing how he could fix this, when he wasn’t responsible for Graham’s death.

Marlon is set to struggle and suffer some post-traumatic stress from her time in jail, but could the bullying and Charity’s lies be one step too far for the chef?

Marlon really didn’t have an easy ride before he was arrested as Rhona revealed that she was taking his son Leo away with Graham to France.

But in upcoming scenes, Marlon will have to decide whether he can keep himself together, or if he is going to run away.

Next week, Marlon will be admitted to the hospital after a suspected heart-attack after yet another visit from the police.

Rhona will invite him out for coffee in the hope that he would be able to talk about the terrifying experience and how it would be going forward.

But she will be left disturbed by just how anxious he is and things will only get worse when the police turn up at his house once again.

Will he flee the village and not look back instead of facing up to his problems?

Emmerdale continues on ITV on Monday at 7pm.
