Emmerdale resident Paddy Kirk (played by Dominic Brunt) put things with Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) into question earlier this year after he accidentally left his newborn baby in a car whilst rushing his friend Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) to hospital. Since then, the pair haven’t quite been the same but now they can’t get away from each other in lockdown, it’s been hinted Chas might be struggling to cope after she will admit this week she lacks confidence in her appearance – will Paddy manage to fix things with his wife or is there something deeper at play?

Chas and Paddy have hit the rocks in the last couple of months after Paddy’s error saw their baby daughter, Eve, nearly taken away by social services.

However, this week will see Paddy determined to make things right with Chas, who is clearly bothered by something deeper.

Monday night’s episode will focus on fan-favourite couple, Chas and Paddy, who are starting to find lockdown difficult to navigate.

The pair will start to clash over their differing approaches to the lockdown period before Paddy comes up with a solution – but will it help Chas?

“Oh my word, why am I so peckish all the time? We’ve got an egg, three bits of chocolate,” says Paddy, glaring into the fridge.

He asks his wife if she has any suggestions, to which she abruptly replies: “Supermarket, your turn.”

“Maybe, or maybe I’m about to make omelette history,” jokes Paddy but Chas remains persistent, adding: “Either way, you need to go shopping because I’m just about to run out of mascara.”

However, Paddy reminds his wife make up is “non-essential,” but she quickly quips back, remarking: “Says the man who stockpiled strawberry laces.”

The couple starts to disagree over Chas’ decision to continue to wear makeup as they remain inside, with her telling her husband she has “standards.”

As Paddy questions who she is trying to impress, Chas angrily snaps back: “Maybe it’s not about you, maybe it’s for me.

“Maybe I don’t want to look like some dowdy woman who’s only here to cook, clean and change nappies,” she adds.

As their heated exchange continues, a stumped Paddy asks: “You don’t feel good about yourself? Since when?”

Chas quickly brushes off the argument but adds: “I suppose it gets a little bit harder every day to remember who I am.”

“I know it’s vain and I know it’s stupid and no offence, Paddy, but I just want to feel like that sexy, confident woman that used to make all the fellas go,” she adds.

“Oh please, since when did Chas Dingle need validation from men?” argues Paddy but Chas was adamant she wanted to forget her previous comments.

“I’m going to the supermarket and when I get back, want you dressed to the nines, don’t want any arguments, tell my dad he’s babysitting Eve and I’ll take you to the best restaurant in town.
