Emmerdale fans spot hidden advertisement in the middle of Jacob and Maya scene

Emmerdale fans proved nothing gets past them last night, as they spotted an advertisement in the middle of a scene.

As David Metcalfe begged son Jacob Gallagher not to seek out Maya Stepney, a bus pulled up with a billboard on the side.

Father and son David (Matthew Wolfenden) and Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) climbed the bus to return to the dales, but viewers were distracted by the subtle "McCain" logo on one side of the vehicle.

Reading "McCain, we are family", viewers were in stitches over the carefully placed advert.

The British chip manufacturers sponsor the ITV soap, and are usually seen advertising right before the episode starts, with the slogan: "McCain, proud sponsors of Emmerdale".

On Twitter, one viewer remarked: "Haha! Did anyone notice the McCain 'We Are Family' advert on the side of the bus whilst Jacob and David are at the bus stop? Oh, the irony!"

A second added: "Of course the bus with the McCain billboard pulls up."

While a third chipped in: "We know you sponsor Emmerdale – the director just allowed a bus into shot for no other reason than to have your product plastered on the side of it in full view."

Jacob left the village to find "paedo school teacher" Maya (Louisa Clein) after she was unexpectedly released from jail.

Dad David managed to convince Jacob to push Maya out of his mind and return home in last night's scenes.

But later in the episode, alone in his bedroom, Jacob tried to ring the ex-school teacher up in private.

Seeing his name pop up on her phone as she walked out of prison, Maya swiftly deleted Jacob as a contact.

But viewers were in for a twist when the camera panned down to show Maya’s pregnancy bump hidden beneath her baggy tee.

Could the father be David, his son Jacob – or is it just a bellyful of McCain's chips?

Emmerdale airs at 7pm on weekdays on ITV.
