Emmerdale favourite Paddy Kirk (played by Dominic Brunt) was left heartbroken on Thursday’s instalment of the ITV soap after Chas Dingle’s (Lucy Pargeter) affair with Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) was finally exposed. Paddy confronted his wife about her infidelity as he discovered she was unfaithful until Al was shot dead. The devastated vet appears set on breaking up with Chas, and many viewers believe he will reconnect with Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley).

In Thursday’s dramatic double-bill of the serial drama, Paddy pulled up to a countryside cottage and asked if Chas recognised it as the house Al had purchased for her.

The penny then dropped for Chas who realised Paddy knew she had been having an affair behind his back for months.

Paddy remained calm as he confirmed Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) broke the devastating news to him.

“She thought I deserved to know the truth and she thought I deserved better than you,” he explained.

Chas was eager to know how her husband knew about the cottage and Paddy explained Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) told villagers the late businessman had bought it for his “bit on the side”.

“I didn’t really think anything about it, but when Belle said you were leaving me, it kind of all fell into place,” Paddy stated.

A regretful Chas told Paddy “none of it seemed real” to which Paddy said: “Maybe that is because your brother shot [Al].”

Chas tried to justify her affair by telling her husband it was “an escape” and a “release” which “snowballed” out of control.

It was not long before most of the Dingle family heard about Chas’ affair and she was scolded by Cain Dingle’s (Jeff Hordley) partner Moira Barton (Natalie J Robb) for her selfish actions.

Paddy made it clear he wanted nothing to do with Chas and knew he would be better off without her no matter how much he loved her deep down.

Emmerdale fans found it hard to watch Paddy so upset as he wrapped his arms around his father at the end of the emotional episode.

But many are convinced Paddy might get back with Mandy following Chas’ infidelity.

Ryan Tweeted: “Paddy you need to sleep with Mandy she is better for you. #Emmerdale.”

@ColchesterFan added: “I feel so sorry for Paddy in #emmerdale it’s really hard to get over – hopefully 2023 Paddy and Mandy.” (sic)

John said: “Come on Mandy now’s the time to go and get Paddy back #Emmerdale.”

@FussyMcWhiskers shared: “#Emmerdale Paddy and Mandy, you are meant to be! Never trust Chas again.”

Mike exclaimed: “Paddy, throw her and her belongings out and get back with Mandy now. #Emmerdale.” (sic)

Victoria suggested: “Paddy should be with Mandy, much better pairing #Emmerdale.”

Would Mandy be willing to give romance another try with Paddy or is there too much water under the bridge?

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV.
