Whitney Dean unveiled her hidden talent on EastEnders in Tuesday night’s episode, as she blew viewers away with her incredible voice.

Whitney, played by Shona McGarty, sang happy birthday to her friend and work colleague Shrimpy, one of the market stall owners.

The red-headed beauty had the whole of Albert Square hanging off her every note as she showcased some utterly beautiful elements to her vocal range.

Her dulcet tones left fans stunned too, as Whitney, who was recently involved in dramatic hit and run storylines, has never once sung a song during her 13 years in Walford.

Flocking to Twitter in shock, one person commented: "Whitney where have you been hiding that voice? #Eastenders @ShonaBM.You have voice of angel."

"Great to hear the spectacular @ShonaBM singing on #EastEnders,” another praised.

While a third gushed: “Whitney singing happy birthday to Shrimpy @ShonaBM what a brilliant voice. #EastEnders".

It seems bosses have decided to give Whitney a new storyline on EastEnders, as the plot progressed with Rocky secretly filming his friend from the other side of the market gathering.

The character later confessed he’d taken the liberty to send the recording to his music producer friend Jen.

"I called her up and played it to her,” Rocky explained, trying to encourage his mate.

“I’m not kidding, she thought it was her birthday when she heard you sing. Unbelievable, that's what she said. She wants to meet you…she thinks you can go places."

However, Whitney was upset she hadn’t been consulted and angrily stormed off back to her stall.

Shona has often showcased her voice skills in the past, but EastEnders fans will most likely remember her transforming into Disney character Belle from Beauty and the Beast for Comic Relief.

The actress was the star of the segment and proved she’s not just a one trick pony.

It’s about time the songstress got the opportunity to turn her beloved soap character into a singer too.

Jen is set to be played by actress Kate Robbins so there’s a chance Whitney could be the next big thing in Walford.
