EastEnders spoilers: Mick Carter devastated as wife Linda fails to return home for Christmas

MICK Carter is set to be devastated as his wife Linda will fail to return home to Albert Square in time for Christmas.

Linda Carter is normally in charge of organising the annual Santa's grotto at The Vic – but the pub landlord has insisted it is unlikely to happen.

Linda recently fled from the London town with her newborn baby Annie following threats from Stuart Highway against her and the family.

The landlady had been terrorised by Rainie over the whereabouts of Max Branning, who ran away with granddaughter Abi in previous scenes.

After Rainie discovered Linda was carrying Max's baby – and not Mick's – she announced it to a bunch of random punters at the pub.

With things getting all too much for the expectant mum, she suggested that she, Mick, Annie and Ollie head to her mum Elaine's for the meantime.

While Mick returned to Albert Square following the short trip away, the new mum is yet to return and looks unlikely to be back in time for Christmas this year.

In an upcoming episode, Mick appears to confirm the news as he tells Nancy that the grotto Linda always organises will not go ahead.

When she begins to question, he shuts her down and firmly tells her that the plan is off and there's no changing his mind.

With it becoming increasingly obvious that things are fraught between Mick and Linda, Janine is left to pick up the pieces.

It comes as fans are convinced that Mick and Janine are going to have a passionate affair after spotting clues in recent episodes.

The murderer and the landlord – who are played by actors Charlie Brooks and Danny Dyer in the BBC soap – have been growing closer.

The pair were spotted flirting by fans in episodes last week as they chopped down the tree in the Square, leaving them to believe Mick will cheat on his wife.

One wrote: "Chemistry between Mick and Janine… watch this space!"

A second said: "Janine and Mick are going to start something stupid!"

Another added: "Janine and Mick the pairing we didn't know we needed."
