EastEnders reunion as Tanya Franks and Charlie Brooks attend Jake Wood's show in London

EASTENDERS stars Tanya Franks and Charlie Brooks were out in force last night to support co-star Jake Wood's new play.

The 49-year-old actor is appearing in new stage show 2:22 – A Ghost Story in London's West End.

Jake, who quit EastEnders earlier this year after playing Max Branning for 15 years, appears alongside popstar Lily Allen in the spooky stage show.

Actress Charlie – who plays Janine Butcher – came out to support her co-star at the show's premiere last night.

Charlie, 40, looked chic in a black layered dress teamed with a brown blazer.

Albert Square favourite Tanya, who plays Rainie Cross, looked glamorous in a symmetrical patterned midi dress.

The 53-year-old star completed her look with a pair of nude heels and a eye-catching red clutch bag.

Jake left Albert Square earlier this year, after first appearing as Max in the BBC soap in 2006.

Jake wrote: "After 15 years I will be leaving Eastenders at the end of this year.

"I have loved playing Max Branning who amongst other things in that time has had 4 marriages, 10 affairs, 4 children (2 dying from falling from the roof of The Queen Vic), been buried alive, watched unwanted DVDs at Xmas and perhaps most traumatising of all…shared a hot tub with Ian Beale.

"I have made some truly great friends whilst on the show and I’ll miss everyone there. I’m grateful they have left the door open for Max and I’m excited to see what new horizons are around the corner.

"Thank you to everyone who has sent me messages this week, I appreciate the love and support."

I'M A CELEB SPOT?

Previously, Jake told how he'll finish performing in 2:22 A Ghost Story just in time for I'm A Celebrity.

Good Morning Britain host Ben Shephard quizzed: "Will you be finished in time to go into the jungle if the call comes in?"

"Yes, I finish in mid-October," said Jake.

"I've made no secret of the fact I'd love to do the jungle. We were talking about it in the break, Kate [Garraway, who was a 2019 cast member]."

Ben then asked whether he'd be up for starring in the Australian or Welsh series after coronavirus forced ITV bosses to change the location.

"Either or – bring it on!," shouted Jake.

Earlier this month The Sun revealed Jake's in advanced talks to be in I’m a Celeb.

But Jake has since met with the ITV jungle show’s casting chiefs, who are aiming to secure the best line-up yet for its return to Australia.

And sources said last night he is keen to sign up if offered a place.

One told the Sun on Sunday: “He would love to go into the jungle.

“He thinks it would be a great challenge for him and he has of course seen how well other EastEnders stars have done on the series.”
